Almodovar and Maura
Big news for Almodovar fans. Not only does he have a new film at Cannes, he has reteamed with his perfect leading lady, Carmen Maura. She returns as Penelope Cruz's dead mother in the film, "Volver". But fans of Pedro's earlier works will always remember her as the pivot point of those films. Transexual sister, druggie nun, scorned woman or sympathetic psychologist.... she was great. "Law of Desire" has the bonus of seeing a very young, handsome and gay Antonio Banderas running around in his underwear.
